Banana, Oat & Cinnamon Smoothie – Shake !

This Shake is delightfully full-flavoured, chilled and ever so crazy with deliciousness.  So, I made this to accompany my “3 Layered Breakfast Toast Fit for a KING” recipe (http://www.mouthwateringvegan.com/2011/06/12/3-layered-breakfast-toast-fit-for-a-king/).  I wanted tastes to compliment the savoury treasure.  The result – a memorable shake you will want to repeat again, and again.  It’s our Sunday special treat – so treat yourself and enjoy, Cheers to You !

Serves 2

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 ripe frozen banana
  • ½ pint of vegan milk (soya or coconut should do the trick, but you will need a rich, creamy one)
  • ½ pint of chilled water
  • 1 tbsp agave nectar syrup
  • 3-4 ice cubes
  • 2 tbsp rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp raw blanched almonds
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

METHOD

Place all the ingredients in your liquidizer except for the half pint of the water.  Process until smooth, then add the water and process again.  Make sure there are no lumps, and that it’s nice and frothy on top.  Pour and Enjoy !

  3. Thanks Gustabo, more often than not they’ve been tried and tested a few times before I submit them, but at times, I kind of taste them in my mind (if you know what I mean) and then on the palette they work wonders !!! Best to you !

  4. I’ve been making a version of this for around 2 months, but yours, with the almonds and agave nector, is a nice variation I am definitely going to try. Smoothies like this are a great way to get kids to school with the right healthy breakfast start, without knowing it! My son loves this oaty one! And it ensures we eat porridge oats even in the summer months! Thanks for this, Miriam.

  5. Right you are dear Liz – I like your thinking (which matches my thoughts on the subject) about still consuming them in the summer months. Hope you enjoy it – try to make sure the bananas are frozen first for best results – the cooler the better tasting for this smoothie ! Enjoy and Cheers !

  12. Hi Miriam, this makes me want to go out and buy a smoothie maker! Does your book have a section on smoothies?

  13. Silver a smoothie maker is really worth it, you can use it for a variety of products including the cheeses in my book – known as a liquidizer or blender, be sure to purchase a powerful one. Yes, I have both juices and smoothies in my book. Cheers !

  14. Miriam. I just decided to go vegan and found your website. To say that I was greatly nerves is putting it mildly. This is my first recipe from your site. I adding chia and flax seeds and changed to almond milk and almonds but it still came out great. Thank you for making this transition easy. Keep up the great work, since this is one of many recipes that I will be trying.
